Program Coordinator's Message

The tremendous technological advancement witnessed worldwide has transformed the shape of life. The reliance on modern information technology is increasing day by day, whether in financial institutions, public services, education, security, or other sectors. While modern electronic technologies provide countless benefits, their misuse poses a serious threat to the entire world. Cybercrimes, internet crimes, and cyberterrorism have emerged, making the demand for specialists in information security—capable of protecting data, securing networks, and safeguarding computer systems—greater than ever before. This specialization develops students’ skills in detecting and analyzing digital forensic evidence of cybercrimes through extracting information from networks, memory, mobile devices, and other digital systems.

The field of Information Security is one of the most dynamic areas in the IT sector. It can be defined as the science concerned with the theories and strategies of protecting information against all threats. From a technical perspective, it involves the tools, methods, and procedures necessary to ensure information protection from both internal and external risks. Information Security is considered both a vital and evolving discipline: vital due to its strong connection with numerous other specializations in an effective and influential manner, and evolving because of the continuous updates and rapid advancements that require constant monitoring and integration with related fields. Moreover, the intrinsic link between security in general and various aspects of life, scientific disciplines, and their technical dimensions has provided those interested in Information Security the opportunity either to specialize deeply in this field or to add a valuable security dimension to their existing knowledge and skills.

From this perspective, the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence – Benha University has designed this program in response to the growing demand for this specialization locally, regionally, and globally.
